CDC committee supports expanded criteria for PCV13 vaccine

The CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices voted to expand age recommendations for certain individuals for the 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine and to include the Haemophilus influenzae type b-Neisseria meningitidis serogroups C and Y-tetanus toxoid vaccine for high-risk children in the Vaccines for Children program. The committee approved four new influenza vaccine formulations for the 2013-14 flu season, along with recommendations for timing and spacing of vaccinations.
