Intel embraces open source, in part, with Hadoop integration

Intel is expanding its push into software services with the release of a modified version of the open-source Hadoop platform optimized for its Xeon processors. Intel Distribution for Apache Hadoop offers solutions that support data storage, management and analysis, which the company says provide a performance enhancement of as much as 40% for customers who use them on an all-Intel platform.
