A DuPont ethanol facility under construction in Nevada, Iowa, is an example of how cross-industry partnerships can be crucial to innovative projects, said DuPont CEO Ellen Kullman at the ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit in Maryland. The company partnered with farmers, universities and private startups to make the project successful, Kullman said. Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., noted that partnerships between the federal government and private businesses can be particularly effective.
