Momentum builds in effort to make MLR more friendly to agents

The House Energy and Commerce Committee's Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., expects movement this year on an effort to address agent compensation under the medical loss ratio, and the National Association of Health Underwriters is considering how a revived bill could be expanded to address other aspects of how the Affordable Care Act affects agents and brokers. "We are potentially looking at a broader broker bill dealing with how agents interact with the exchanges," says Brooke Bell, the organization's director of government affairs.
