World puts SARS-like virus under intense scrutiny

A newly identified and deadly coronavirus has been the focus of intense study worldwide. Scientists have sequenced part of its genome, found that it readily replicates in human cells and discovered that it may respond to medicines used to treat SARS. Unanswered questions include the identity of any reservoir animals and how widespread exposure may be in humans.
