W.Va. math curriculum to focus on real-world applications

Students in West Virginia schools soon will be learning math under new standards that focus on deeper understanding, according to a state education official. Others note that the new math curriculum aligned with the Common Core State Standards will emphasize how math applies in real-world situations, such as buying a car or shipping packages.
