Trauma center status helps Pa. hospital handle multiple patients

Trauma and ICU staff at Reading Hospital in Pennsylvania say its status as an accredited trauma center helps it care for multiple patients with life-threatening conditions. On a recent day, three critically ill patients required 263 pints of blood and 21 staff members to administer it. Kimberly Sharp, a registered nurse in the surgical ICU, said working together "like an orchestra" is what helps the team coordinate care for multiple seriously ill or injured patients.
