Barnes & Noble's Nook retrenches

Revenue at Barnes & Noble unit Nook Media reached $316 million in the quarter that ended Jan. 26, down from $426 million in the same period a year ago. The division reported a $190 million loss, spurring the bookseller to retrench. The company will cut spending on hardware manufacturing and advertising and focus resources on digital content, CEO William Lynch says.
