Governors may get more say in National Guard budget process

State governors will be able to more freely discuss National Guard budget issues with their adjutants general, and the Council of Governors will receive regular updates from the Defense Department on budget matters affecting the National Guard, under an agreement between the council and the DOD. "As commanders-in-chief of the National Guard, it is critical our voices are heard as part of this process," said Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad.
