Infant with pertussis is treated with blood replacement

Doctors in Israel treated a 1-month-old infant who contracted whooping cough with a blood replacement method. The baby's white blood cell count had been driven up by bacterial toxins, leading to pulmonary hypertension. After the blood infusion, the child was released from the hospital and is recovering.
