CFTC might require proprietary-trading firms to register

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission is considering requiring proprietary-trading firms to register as swaps dealers, sources said. The move would give the CFTC direct oversight of firms such as Infinium Capital Management, DRW Holdings and RGM Advisors. Those companies and others have argued they should not be subjected to the same capital requirements as swaps dealers that trade on behalf of clients.
