Data drawn from eMarketer's Video Games report shows the electronic gaming universe is a $30 billion dollar industry consisting of hundreds of millions of users playing games on PCs, consoles, handheld devices and mobile phones. The widespread adoption of broadband over the past few years has significantly expanded the scope, reach and potential for the electronic game industry. eMarketer forecasts that by 2010, there will be over 420 million broadband households worldwide (approximately 900 million broadband users), which will ensure that a significant proportion of all electronic games will be accessed, distributed, sold and played on the Web. Like music and movies, the future of electronic games is online.
