Experts explore nanoparticles' potential in cancer detection

Researchers are exploring the use of metal nanoparticles to better spot tumors. A team of scientists at the New Mexico-based Los Alamos National Laboratory, for instance, is testing a technique that uses iron oxide nanoparticles and a superconducting quantum interference device to detect breast tumor cells.
