Contest: Hiring in the most unusual places

03/2/2009

The best job candidates aren't always hidden in a stack of resumes; sometimes they're standing next to you in line at the grocery store. According to some estimates, 80% of job openings never are advertised and end up being filled by friends, acquaintances or chance encounters. SmartBrief Senior Editor Mary Ellen Slayter's own experience with accidental recruiting at a toddler's birthday party has inspired us to host a contest: What's the strangest place you've ever met a job candidate?  Do tell. The five best stories -- contributed via our blog -- will  be featured in SmartBrief on Workforce. Deadline is March 9.
