Senators say Navy missile destroyer contract should be split

Twenty lawmakers said the contract to build the Navy's next-generation guided missile destroyer, the DD(X), should not be a winner-take-all contract. Northrop Grumman and General Dynamics are competing for the contract. The Navy has asked the Pentagon's chief weapons buyer to approve the winner-take-all approach, which the lawmakers say would force the losing bidder out of the shipbuilding market.
