Physicians group issues policy on NPs in primary care

The American College of Physicians released a new policy on nurse practitioners in primary care that says doctors and NPs must work together, with mutual respect, to improve access to patient-centered health care. "The College recognizes the important role that NPs play in meeting the current and growing demand for primary care, especially in underserved areas. As trained healthcare professionals, physicians and NPs share a commitment to providing high-quality care," a monograph co-author said.
