Utah lawmakers advance 2 animal-shelter bills

A bill that seeks to allow shelters in Utah to euthanize animals by carbon-monoxide gassing or lethal injection cleared the state House Tuesday. Also, state senators approved a bill that would abolish a mandate requiring publicly funded shelters to surrender cats and dogs for medical experiments.
