Deep snows can thin profits for landscapers

Landscapers who perform snow removal during the winter months have seen plenty of white stuff this year -- but that doesn't always mean more green. Commercial snow-removal contracts are usually based on a flat seasonal rate regardless of the amount of snow that actually falls. That means dry years produce more profits than wet years like this one, when companies have to pay for more labor and materials to honor their contracts.
