Neb. school district, city council talk police-presence funding

The Bellevue, Neb., City Council and officials of the school district are in a dispute regarding paying for police officers at schools. The city has paid for officers for more than 10 years, but it is asking the school district to foot half of the $50,000 annual bill. Most school districts fund officers on their own, and Bellevue has already decreased officers from three to two.
