Over 13,000 pharmacies accept controlled substance e-prescriptions

A report released by e-prescribing software vendor DrFirst found that since the federal government approved e-prescribing for controlled substances in 2012, the number of pharmacies accepting these e-prescriptions rose dramatically: from 22 in February 2012 to more than 13,000 now. DrFirst also noted the number of e-prescriptions for controlled substances using its software rose by 428% during the last half of last year.
