Fed officials mount campaign to maintain, expand power

Presidents of the Federal Reserve's 12 district banks appear to have launched a public relations campaign to maintain or even expand the regulatory authority of the central bank, according to The New York Times. Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke does not appear to be coordinating the effort, although he has urged lawmakers to keep the Fed's role as a bank supervisor.
