Calif. hospitals take steps to prepare for new fee structure

California hospitals are using electronic records to improve care, making choices about services and staffing, and creating accountable care organizations to secure their financial future as the health care law shakes up payment structures. Anthony Wright, executive director of the consumer group Health Access, says promoting better hospital care is overdue and the new rules could encourage more coordinated treatment.
