Evening meals replace snacks at La. after-school programs

Seven sites in New Orleans now are offering evening meals to students who participate in after-school programs. The program, funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and overseen by the state Department of Education, replaces a previous program that offered snacks to students. The new meals, however, ensure that students do not go hungry, officials said.
