Ga. House votes down Vogtle cost-overrun bill

Lawmakers in the Georgia House voted down a bill that would have barred Georgia Power from collecting profits related to cost overruns in the Plant Vogtle expansion project. State Rep. Jeff Chapman, the bill's sponsor, said his measure only aimed to protect ratepayers. The bill would have boosted the project's costs and damaged nuclear development in the state, the utility said.
