Sequestration may lead to layoffs at Wash. nuclear site, feds say

The Department of Energy may be forced to lay off workers at the Hanford nuclear reservation in Washington state because of federal budget cuts worth $171 million. The department remains dedicated to cleaning up the site, but "this decreased funding and the resulting contractor employment actions may curtail our progress," the department wrote in a letter to Washington Gov. Jay Inslee.
