UN meeting takes on violence against women, girls

The United Nations Commission on the Status of Women meeting is the largest ever to address violence against women and girls. "Violence against women and girls remains widespread, and impunity is still the norm rather than the exception," said UN Women chief Michelle Bachelet. She said she is willing to accept alternate wording of the meeting's outcome document as long as it "reflected the spirit" of the proceedings.
