CFTC member raises concerns about coordination on swaps rules

Jill Sommers, a member of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, says the global swaps market could be disrupted by the inability of regulators in the U.S. to coordinate their rules governing the sector. "I'm deeply concerned that there has not been adequate coordination" with the Securities and Exchange Commission and non-U.S. regulators, Sommers said. "Of even greater concern to me is that the [CFTC] appears to be considering a piecemeal approach."
