Heart disease, diabetes risks tied to kidney disease

Data on 1,456 Asians age 65 and older revealed those who had metabolic syndrome -- defined as having numerous risk factors for heart disease and diabetes -- faced an elevated risk of developing chronic kidney disease. The findings appear in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism.
