$1.1M settlement is reached over fire risk at Honolulu landfill

Changes at the sole Honolulu landfill are required under a settlement with the Environmental Protection Agency to curb fire risk related to gas from decomposing garbage. Waste Management, which operates the landfill, and the city have agreed to the settlement, which also includes a $1.1 million fine.
