Broadcasters should be paid by third parties that use their content, Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., said at NAB's State Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. Leahy, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, added that broadcasters also deserve credit for supporting efforts to curb gun violence and for providing news and reassurance during the shooting in Newtown, Conn. "We wept and prayed, sometimes with broadcasters," he said.
