A move among school districts to replace textbooks with tablets is well under way. Districts are finding major benefits in the move, including immediate updates of the texts to reflect current events, greater student interest in their work and at times reduced costs. On Wednesday, News Corp. unveiled its $299 10-inch Amplify tablet, which includes software designed especially for school districts. "We must use technology to empower teachers and improve the way students learn," said Joel Klein, a former head of New York City's schools who runs News Corp.'s education tablet program.
