Va. university aims to increase number of math, science teachers

Math and science majors who want to become teachers will encounter a new program of studies at Virginia's Old Dominion University with the implementation in August of a program called MonarchTeach. Based on the University of Texas' UTeach program, MonarchTeach will change the core education courses math and science majors take to be more heavily focused on the teaching of those subjects, rather than more general education courses, the program's director said.
