Officials in a Missouri district are celebrating National School Breakfast Week -- supported by the School Nutrition Association -- by serving hot meals each morning. The theme for the event is "School Breakfast -- Go for Gold," and students can invite an adult to eat breakfast with them on "Gold Medal Day." Support for school breakfasts comes as the district is implementing new federal nutrition standards, in part by switching to skim milk. "The kids didn't notice," said Carmen Fischer, Rockwood School District's director of child nutrition. "They had no idea that it was skim."
