Survey finds 3 main barriers to telemedicine

Physicians' licensing, credentialing and reimbursement are the three major hindrances to the successful implementation of telehealth initiatives, according to a survey of emergency and critical-care remote presence telemedicine users published in Telemedicine and e-Health. Researchers said possible solutions to the barriers include the creation of a national telemedicine license and a streamlined approach to credentialing.
