U.N. headquarters in New York gets almost $2B makeover

Renovation work on the 60-year-old New York City headquarters of the United Nations is expected to cost almost $2 billion, according to Michael Adlerstein, the project's executive director. The design team plans to preserve most of the building's old architecture, including the U.N. compound's design, dating back to the 1950s. Construction is slated to last until September 2014, according to Adlerstein.
