AT&T joins telehealth firms to release emergency-response device

AT&T is teaming up with two remote monitoring companies to market a new mobility solution for the elderly that uses GPS and machine-to-machine technology to keep tabs on patients and connect them to caregivers in the event of an emergency, such as a fall. The mobile personal emergency response system, or MPERS, is the fruit of a partnership among AT&T, Valued Relationships and Numera, and is intended for use in nursing homes and by home health care providers.
