Scientists confirm existence of ancient crater beneath Iowa

Using a series of aerial imagery, scientists confirmed the existence of a 470-million-year-old meteorite crater beneath Decorah, Iowa. The Decorah Impact Structure was found during an analysis of core samples between 2008 and 2009, where scientists discovered a unique sample of shale that they believe an ancient seaway deposited at some point after the crater was formed.
