Companies have been slow to adopt automatic guided vehicles for warehousing and distribution purposes, and there are still potential issues related to reliability, flexibility and scalability, writes Tim Quellhorst, senior vice president at Crown Equipment Corp. The technology is still developing, and, in some situations, "the best decision may be to map out a strategy but delay implementation until the technology matures," he writes.
