Florida legislators agree to give Baker Act powers to NPs

The House has passed a bill that would permit Florida nurse practitioners and physician assistants to order the detention and examination of dangerous or suicidal patients with mental disorders. The bill, sponsored by nurse and State Rep. Daphne Campbell, D-Miami, is headed to the governor's desk.
