AAR reports favorable weekly growth in carloads, intermodal

Freight carload traffic of U.S. railroads climbed 0.2% in the week ending March 2 from the year-ago level, and intermodal rose 9.7%, according to the Association of American Railroads. "In February, year-over-year intermodal volume on U.S. railroads rose for the 39th straight week, and February saw the first double-digit year-over-year increase in two years," said John Gray, AAR senior vice president. Shipments of petroleum products continued to post gains, increasing 69.5% in the latest week.
