School uses brain-based research to guide lessons

Teachers at a private school in Maryland are studying research on teaching, learning and the brain and applying that knowledge in the classroom. Among other things, teachers have used research to guide their decisions to allow students to exercise before tackling complicated work, start the school day later for older students, and plan their classes based on studies showing that students retain more of what they learn at the beginning and end of class.
