Philanthropist gives $6 million to Seattle research center

A venture capitalist in California has donated $6 million to the Institute for Systems Biology to help it transfer to a new facility and hire new faculty members, according to the Seattle-based institute. The institute will receive the gift over five years and use it to conduct research into personalized medicine and biofuels, among other areas.
