EU's Capital Requirement Directive IV could offer ABS reprieve

The European Commission is considering updating the Capital Requirement Directive, which could offer regulatory reprieve to asset-backed securities. A draft of CRD IV would tweak the definition of liquid assets to "include other categories of central bank eligible assets, for example [residential mortgage-backed securities] of high liquid and credit quality".
