Railroads, lawmakers discuss issues at Railroad Day on Capitol Hill

The freight railroad industry convened with lawmakers for Railroad Day on Capitol Hill to discuss legislative issues. An increase in truck size and weight was the primary concern, and allowing extra-heavy trucks on bridges and highways would hasten infrastructure damage and consume more energy, according to the Association of American Railroads spokesperson Patti Reilly. The AAR also launched its newest video campaign during the event, which highlights the economic benefits of the "freight rail effect."
