Natural gas boom boosts U.S. petrochems, ExxonMobil exec says

The rise of shale gas as a reliable and prominent feedstock supply demonstrates the importance of incorporating petrochemicals with refining and upstream operations, said Stephen Pryor, vice president of ExxonMobil and president of the company's chemical unit, during a conference held by IHS-Cambridge Energy Research Associates. "We see ethane re-emerging as an advantage feedstock in North America, reflecting the growing production of unconventional natural gas and the increasing importance of gas in the world energy mix," Pryor said.
