Discovery drives math, science learning in some Va. schools

Virginia Beach educators are changing the way they teach math and science by moving away from teacher-led instruction to project-based learning, school officials say. "Math has to have meaning," Joe Burnsworth, assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction, said, adding "and you do that by making it real to them."
