Study: Hardware boosted video game industry in February

Paced by strong console performance, the video game industry generated $1.36 billion in sales during February, a 3% increase over the same month in 2010, according to NPD Group. Hardware sales were $466.9 million, a 10% increase. Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter said Sony's PlayStation 3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360 were up about 25% in sales, while Nintendo's Wii gained 15%.
