Very-low-cal diet reduces glucose and weight in diabetes patients

Italian researchers found that following a 400-calorie diet daily for seven days reduced fasting plasma glucose and triglycerides and led to a 3.22% weight loss in obese people with type 2 diabetes. Improvement in first- and second-phase insulin-secretion indexes also was observed.
