Cape Wind cancels tentative deal with Mass. company

A tentative agreement between the proposed Cape Wind offshore wind project in Nantucket Sound and a Massachusetts-based company tapped to build steel towers and other components for the project has been canceled. As early as the spring of 2011, Cape Wind had reservations about Mass Tank's ability to meet the project's requirements, said Cape Wind spokesman Mark Rodgers. Mass Tank believes that it was dropped by Cape Wind in favor of a foreign company, Mass Tank President Carl Horstmann wrote in a letter dated Jan. 28 to the Department of Energy, commenting on Cape Wind's loan guarantee application.
