India to expedite ethnics review for clinical drug trials

The Indian Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation announced that it is conducting an immediate technical review of applications from ethnics committees for proposed clinical trials, in response to declining clinical trial numbers reported last year and in response to criticism. The CDSCO will pay special attention to the issue of serious adverse events, which was a particular target of criticism by the U.S.-based Association of Clinical Research Organizations.
